What do you love about summer?  One of my favorite things to do is catch up on reading.  I always used this as a time to rejuvenate myself as an educator.  I would often find a great read to focus on and plan how to implement the strategies the following school year.

We would like to offer the opportunity for you to participate in a web-based book club.  All PLA educators are invited to read the book Hacking Classroom Management by Mike Roberts.  His book focuses on 10 ideas to help you become the type of teacher they make movies about!

Here's How it Will Work~

  • Sign up to participate
  • Purchase the book~ Amazon offers it for under $18.00
  • Link to purchase the book~ Hacking Classroom Management
  • You will receive a schedule for how the reading of the book will be dispersed over the summer
  • Participate by blogging and sharing ideas on the topic with other PLA educators
  • You can earn 20 PGP points and a certificate at the end of the club for participating and blogging for the entire summer!

We discussed scheduling, hand signals, (1 finger for help, 2 fingers for tissue, 3 for restroom) student jobs, free station choices on Fridays for given scholars more power. We both agreed to try free choice seating the next school year. I would even eliminate hand signals for tissue and restroom, allows students to go as needed.
